Hey Scotty, my wife and I are in need of a reliable yet affordable vehicle with a third row. We are currently considering a used 2019 Mazda cx9 with 29,000 miles on it. I am concerned that the 4 cylinder turbo may be underpowered and with the amount of strain it will be under May give us problems down the road. What is your opinion and what alternative in the same price range($35,000 or less) would you recommend?
May I get a Toyota cuz I'm a Toyota man myself. I am not a fan of 4 cylinder turbos cuz they will wear out someone faster. It's not really underpowered with that engine. It's just that they don't last as long and for my experience Toyota is out last Mazdas anyway
The 2.5L turbo charged engine in the CX-9 is still fairly new to tell how it will fair over time but already there are reports of oil consumption. I would stay clear, unfortunately.
