2019
Tacoma
TSS Off-road
30k Miles
4 Banger
Scotty I just bought a used 2019 4 cylinder Tacoma with 30k miles. Iv'e noticed the the 6 speed transmission keeps the truck pretty sluggish the way it always wants to shift into the highest gears possible. I've stared driving it in S mode limiting the top gear the truck to 4th and 5th gear on the highway. It has defiantly put a lot more pep in the truck and has made for a way better driving experience. On average I'm hitting 2500-4000 rpm. Do you think this can negatively effect the truck or is this safe to continue to drive this way?
Thanks
Josh from Texas
Regardless of V6 or 4cyl. all the systems on newer Taco's are setup for max fuel economy, not peppy driving.
it'll increase your fuel consumption and wear out the engine faster.
That's what happens when you put a 4 banger in a midsize truck.
