2020 Holden Acadia start/stop

SCOTTY! I have a 2020 Holden Acadia 3.6L V6. It has the dreaded auto stop/start feature and GM didn't feel the need to include a button to disable it. Everyone hates it as far as I can tell and GM did put the button back in for the 2021 model. What do I need to buy to reprogram the ECU to disable this feature. There must be a way!  Thanks.

Have you tried a web search? Often people hotwire the hood latch to prevent start/stop. There's also gizmos you can buy.

I am sure I have seen dongles that plug into your OBDII port that bypasses this useless start/stop system.  Try googling Star/Stop canceling devices or something to that effect.

Do you have a link for such a device?  I can't find it in my searches and the only reference to the hood latch is the trick of starting the car with the hood open, then closing it.  I don't see anyone describing such a hack.

well I imagine you would wire a manual switch inline with the latch switch circuit so you could control it remotely.

hmmm. . . .no. That seems rather ridiculous IMHO. I do it now by putting it in manual shift and just shifting up to 9th gear and leaving it there. It works, but it's a pain in the butt for something that is controlled by software and SHOULD be capable of being disabled. GM in their infinite wisdom decided no to include the button in early 2020 models, but put it back in for the refresh and later models (to the best of my knowledge).

driving around in 9th gear is ridiculous
