2020 soul s. Had oil change done 5 weeks later engine sounding loud, tapping. Checked oil, no oil!? I was pissed. Jus did 1000 miles then they kept car overnight to do a top engine cleaning. Picking it up tomorrow, then hv to b bring it back in another 1000 miles. The guy I spk to today sd he has nvr seen this oil consumption test fix anything so I'll most likely be getting a new engine. I was shocked. Didn't know it was that bad. I asked is this an issue with other kids souls n he said yes been seeing it a lot.
My car was checked for that recall n I was told same thing. Now I keep asking is this related to the recall n I'm being told no...? Idk bout that. He sd they HV to follow kias protocol first. I only HV had my car for 1.5 yrs and now I'm at 22000 miles, still very new. After they checked for the recall ever since my engine is loud, hear a metal tapping noise nd it nvr did that prior. That was also the 1st time I got it serviced. I was thinking they did something to it then bc noise getting worse and I've only had oil changes done, no work.
My thing is is this new engine going to hv same problem? How will I know if it's not a defect. Crazy...
See below: I would not trust the new engine either. Since it’s a hot seller’s market, I would get rid of the vehicle.

The situation with those vehicles is appalling. We didn't even have it that bad 50-60 years ago in the days of carbs, ignition points, and crappy (compared to today) motor oils. See what Carvana will give you for it, might even be what you paid for it or a bit more in this crazy market.
As everyone else said get rid of it as soon as you can. Kia is garbage and it's not like they're going to make the replacement engine better than the one initially on your car. Consider a Toyota or Honda afterwards.
