Scotty,
I recently purchase a 2021 F250 Superduty with the 7.3 Gas engine with the new 10 speed automatic transmission and have approximately 1900 miles on it now. When I purchased the vehicle, it came with free oil changes for life. They recommend going by the oil life monitor to change the oil which is normally around 10K miles. I plan on keeping the truck for quite a while and estimated having somewhere around 200K or more before getting something else. The owners manual recommends 5W-30 Motorcraft synthetic blend oil. I would like to run full synthetic oil because I think it will make the engine last longer and it would give me more peace of mind. I spoke to the dealer and they said that they would put full synthetic oil and only charge me the difference which I believe is around $3 per quart (truck takes 8 quarts).
My questions is...Am I over thinking this, should i just go with the synthetic blend? I don't mind paying the extra $24 for the oil change, especially if if will make the engine run better and last longer without any issues.
I’d go full synthetic.
If you don’t mind the extra charge I’d stick with full synthetic. The blends in my opinion shouldn’t go past 5k without a change. Where as the full synthetic really has no issue going 10k between changes.
Full synthetic would seem a good bet for the extended drain intervals.
Congrats on the new beast!
Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated!
