Hi Scotty. I’m looking to buy suv/crossover. I was considering 2021 Mazda CX-5 Subaru Forester Toyota fav 4 Ford Escape or Nissan Rogue Kia or Tucson. Can u tell me which u recommend or is there a different one u like? I looked at a used cx5 2018 from dealership Ford certified with 13000 miles wanted to think about it and when wanted to look at again told it had a bad engine so I’m little apprehensive. U r so knowledgeable about cars that I would appreciate ur advice. Thanks!

From your list (2021 MY) I would go for Toyota RAV4 > Mazda CX-5 (but avoid the 2.5L naturally aspirated engine option as it has cylinder deactivation) > Subaru Forester.

I wouldn’t even bother with the rest if planning to keep beyond the warranty period.  I would also consider the Honda CR-V.

Toyota RAV4, Mazda CX-5, Subaru Forester >>> Nissan Rogue, Ford Escape, Kia Tucson

I'd also consider the Honda CR-V.

While I can't comment directly on the latest versions, I have direct experience with the 2015 RAV4 now at 50,000 miles and CR-V now at 90,000 miles.  Both great reliable vehicles.

I was originally gonna go with crv I have a old pilot that’s great but I read about the oil dilution problems so then I thought maybe I should look at some others? Thanks!

TMK, oil dilution is a problem with the turbo engines. Stay away from those, and you will most likely be okay.

Does it need to be new? Consider a slightly older Lexus Rx350 (= Rav 4 but nicer).

I don't recommend Any BMW SAV with a 4 cylinder engine.
The Turbo is impressive, but it will wear our very fast!
