My good friend has a 2021 Tahoe with the 5.3 Engine (automatic) and was made in Mexico. It has only 27,000 on the odometer. It is stranded in the driveway. He got in it to leave and the engine spins rapidly but it will not start. I checked the voltage on the battery with a standard volt ohm meter and the voltage shows about 12.1 volts with . He is thinking about getting a scan tool to check the codes. It seems to me the engine is spinning too fast for a voltage that low. There is a two week wait at the dealer so we were trying to figure it out between ourselves. I have only Toyotas so I am trouble free.

Doing a diagnostic scan is a good idea. Also see the troubleshooting section of the FAQ.
