aloha scotty!

many thanks for all your vids, always helpful and even more entertaining.

my car died, due to crazy-dude-can't-drive'itus.. and, I'm on the hunt for a new one.  what do you think of the new 2024 design of the chevy traverse?

I want an suv, around the same size as my last 2010 pathfinder (but, before you freak - 🤣 it was always a great car, never had any issues.. never.. so, thank my lucky stars!); and was looking at the new traverse, highlander, etc... but, now they're all so uber huge and $$!  maybe 1 a bit smaller?

anyways, I know long haul, the toy's better on the books.. but, the trav's soo spacious, and cool tech and all!

any other suggestions?  despite being an only driver - I do, sometimes, need to haul stuff around for various reasons (camping, hula, diving, etc.) so, I no bueno for the small suv's - but, for the traverse line.. what's the long term forecast?  I tend to drive them f-o-r-e-v-e-r.. or til they get crashed into.. 😶

mahalo plenty!

Oooh, cool tech and all! I guess that makes the poor quality, mechanical problems, electrical problems, and overall short life expectancy of the vehicle OK then.

Really could be a nightmare.

That is the first year of that model. A co-worker with a Chevy trax ran into a deer, and chevy didn't have the parts to fix it for about 6 months! If they can't even think to make some extra parts, what else did they neglect to do?

Every friend with a Chevy or GM product just doesn't hold up. They are falling apart by 120k or so, if they make it that far.

When I get together with my friends, they get out of their 10ish year old chevy that has issues and we drive my 2008 GX470 with 200k+ miles running like a top.

The 2010 pathfinder is not a bad vehicle, much better than the cars with the fwd Jatco transmission. Just don't buy one newer than 2012, they went downhill after that.

I would suggest a Toyota SUV.

@nlord thanks so much for info. 1st years are always *gambles*

That's because the Pathfinder at that time was still based on a Datsun-derived, body-on-frame vehicle. What was Datsun is now Nissan. They were bought out around the year 2000 by Renault, which has always made crappy cars, and everything except their body-on-frame vehicles started going downhill almost right away. I second @nlord, in 2012, the Pathfinder switched from a traditional body-on-frame SUV with rear-wheel drive to a unibody SUV with the notoriously bad Jatco front-wheel-drive transmission.

That's because they want to "wow!" You into buying one, hoping you'll ignore the issues @chucktobias mentioned. New GM isn't like old GM- at all. During the financial crisis in 2008, gas prices skyrocketed, GM was making crappy cars (and unibody SUVs), but they made decent trucks and body-on-frame SUVs. Those things are gas hogs, and GM was based on gas hogs, not fuel sippers. GM went under, and they closed a big manufacturing facility that made the GMC Jimmy and the original Chevy Trailblazer- body-on-frame vehicles. The place where they were made them was Moraine, Ohio. I live in Kettering, 10 miles away.

Fast forward 16 years, what were decent Silverados are now made in the US from imported parts made in Mexico, etc. If you value your money, get a Toyota.

@justin-shepherd appreciate all wisdom - this forum rocks

Get a Highlander or Pilot instead.

Honestly, I would get a another Pathfinder, MY2024. They have a ZF 9HP transmission hooked to the VQ35DD V6. And you can haggle on the $49K sticker price since you had a 2010 Pathfinder prior even though Nissan is not currently offering loyalty cash. Your dealer can work with you on that.
