I just purchased a brand new 2024 toyota rav4 and am planing on keeping it until the wheels fall off other than changing the oil at 5k miles can the transmission be serviced?
can the transmission be serviced?
Of course the transmission can be serviced.
If the dealership tells you it's lifetime fluid, don't believe it.
What they mean is, when the transmission dies, well that was the lifetime. They are happy to then sell you another car.
I prefer to extend the "Lifetime" of my cars as long as possible by changing the trans fluid among other things.
all transmissions can be serviced. The trick will be finding someone willing and capable of doing it .

can my transmission be serviced (...) 2024 toyota rav4
Yes. And easily so.
am planing on keeping it until the wheels fall off
If you plan on keeping it for long, you must service the tranny regularly.
These 8 speeds are not great, we have seen quite a few fail.
See these previous instances of 8 speed trans failure:

(I remember there being quite a few others too with an out right failure, and some others complaining about poor driving dynamics which does seem like a transmission fault)
can the transmission be serviced?
Yes and it must be replaced to get the longest possible longevity.
Also you should inspect the cleanliness of the ATF cooler, on long / demanding drives it's worth checking that it's not overheating (these do tend to get very hot), and replace the ATF every ~30k miles (the more frequent, the better).
