Should I buy a new Ridgeline

Looking at a new 2025 Honda Ridgeline with the 3.5L 24V SOHC i-VTEC VC.

Any thoughts if prior issues of oil consumption from VCAM system still exist ? Is it worth disabling the VCAM ?  Or does this cause other issues, aside from a possible reduction in MPG ?

I typically change oil/filter every 6 months with around 4,000 miles and use Valvoline RS with a good oil filter for full synthetic oil with a filter media of synthetic material.

I rarely see Ridgelines and can't answer your question based on personal experience. Maybe you'll find the following videos useful. Both are about Honda's VCM system(s). Perhaps the second video will be of particular interest to you as it does address the issue of disabling a Honda VCM (version 4) at the time the video was published on 12/8/24.

I would definitely disable Variable Cylinder Management. Having some cylinders fire while other cylinders don't causes thermal imbalance throughout the engine block. Among other issues such as increased engine vibration wearing out the motor mounts and gummed up piston rings.

What is Valvoline RS?
