What's the highest amount of miles for a 3.5 Ecoboost that you should stay away from? And does anyone know how good they are at pulling camper?
I wouldn't have one at any mileage and from what I've heard, they can't even pull the skin off a pudding.
If you are dead set on buying a 3.5 Ecoboost powered vehicle, personally speaking I would only purchase new.
If you are not dead set on buying one, you may want to consider alternate vehicles.
The Ecoboost engines have had a lot of issues over the years.
They are tiny engines with a lot of boost being pushed into them.
Not dead set on getting one but just looking around. I have a camper and my '17 Silverado with the 5.3 ecotech is such a pooch when pulling it
I believe that, the 5.3 makes decent horsepower, however they are low on torque until they rev above 4,000 rpms.
I was negative on the 3.5 Ecoboost reliability, however with the turbos and direct injection they do have strong torque numbers at a low rpm.
I would do a search on youtube for the 3.5 pulling heavy trailer videos. They do seem to pull well.
I appreciate all comments, just not sure what I want and where I live there it seems like most of the car lots have the 3.5 in the fords, no 5.0 coyotes
That's interesting. It sounds as if they are really pushing the Ecoboosts. If you have the time to wait, maybe you could order a 5.0 with the highest rear axle ratio Ford offers for additional pulling power.
Would you buy for a daily and to pull a 16ft camper for vacation?
Mostly daily driver. During the spring through fall I pull the camper at least one weekend a month
We have all of campgrounds within a 90 mile radius where I live so we pick one to go to each month just to get away
