What make and year would be my best option with this budget? Looking to use as a work vehicle was curious about old kias, nissan, mercury, ford's since those are the only ones I see in this price range

Would you be open to sedans because an SUV for 3k would not be that good of a vehicle?

What sedans would offer the most amount of room with seats folded down for this price?

What about a 90s Camry Wagon?

Honda fit has a lot of cargo space, and reliable

Also Toyota Matrix.

other advice was spot on you better off with the car you can get a good one a lot better than an SUV and that price range but if you have to get an SUV in that range you might try like a Ford explorer and hope it lasts a while

I looked at a rust free 1968 International Travelall and they wanted $10,000 for it. Plus, a Camry will get better fuel economy

If it is for work and don’t care what it looks like, you can look for one that has faded paint, scratch bumper, and/or some hail damage. Cosmetic issues can significantly reduce the price. Best of luck

You could get a good Chevy Trailblazer for that price. I know it is a Chevy, but those were made pretty solid and the drivetrains were known to run a LONG time.
