Scotty! Love the videos! I have a 2018 Tacoma with 30k miles. It has the 3.5 V6 with the Auto transmission. The idle sounds IDENTICAL to this video I'm attaching to this thread. The video title states that this sound is normal, but in the real world, it sounds awful. My dealer told me it was normal. He said it was the "high pressure fuel pump." Please take a listen. If have have experienced this noise and know what this "knock" sound is, maybe a future video? Thanks in advance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSB65kClSXM
Unfortunately, some of new Toyota truck engines make this noise and as you know, the dealers say it is normal which is not but since it is a design flaw, nothing you can do about it.
But what is causing it?
Not sure. It seems like a lifter issue but I don’t know for sure.
It can't be a lifter since it's a DOHC engine. There are no lifters....
