4Runner 2010 low mileage concern

Hello, sorry I dont know where to go for this question. I have been looking at a 4runner 2010 SR5. Dealer Says 40k miles.. which is odd I think for the year carfax says it had a non Major accident. I went to look at it and all look nice and clean in under the hood but seems they replaced the parts that were damaged. Should I be concerned on the low miles? Could they have messed with the ODO? I can send you links and see what you think. Thanks a bunch!!! I watch you all the time. Price is 23,300

11 year old car with 40,000 miles - run away.

Dealer - run away.

Accident - run away.

I would pass on this vehicle.  It mentions “accident with another motor vehicle” and you are not going to know the true extent of the damage esp. collateral damage.

The odometer readings are progressively increasing on a yearly basis in the Carfax Report so I don’t think it has been tampered with.  Nevertheless, with the accident, I would keep looking.

Even if the mileage is true (I mean it's very very low but I guess not impossible) I wouldn't risk buying a car that was in an accident and from a dealership (actually stealership!). If a mechanic you trust inspects and approves it then get it if you really want this particular car, but if you can wait for another one I think it would be better to pass on it.

It seems very unlikey that ALL those yearly inspections have fraudulent odo readings, don't you think?

Do you have any details on the accident?

Sadly no, I see it has one owner only and the miles seem consistent each year 3.6k on average each year. Under the hood some parts look new nothing major fender and front. But I am wondering if the engine was swapped. I guess it's difficult to tell.

If you truly like the vehicle have it inspected by a mechanic paying close attention to how bad the accident appears to be and the quality of the fix.

The only things in the carfax are state inspections and registration renewals except for that mention of the accident. No mention of any maintenance or services etc...That part of NY is very congested, so not surprised at the low miles. I'd steer clear of this one, imho.

New York, not the first place I would want to buy a car.

The wreck was years ago, so if I could find enough info on it, that may not be a deal breaker.

Dealership, okay that is a downside.

The mileage looks like my 96 year old step father was driving it. The good thing is, it was driven regularly, not like 38k the first two years and  then sat there.

Maybe, but it would take some serious investigative work before I would commit.
