I have a 2001 4Runner with about 120k miles and it is aoutmatic and it is about to beat me to death. It is the roughest riding car I have ever been in. I don't remember it being so rough when we first go it. We have never changed the struts or shocks. Would it help any? I love the car ,although small, but it turns on a dime and has great pick up. Need to keep it a little longer but would like a smoother ride if possible. Thanks
Change out the struts and shocks to KYB or Bilstein. You'll be amazed at the difference in ride quality.
2001 4Runner with about 120k miles ... We have never changed the struts or shocks
if you've owned it since new, then your shocks are spent.
he pretty much answered his own question with that comment
Yes. "roughest riding car I have ever been in" should have been the give-away
How are the tires? Good tires can make a world of difference.
Yes, yes, yes. Tire selection can affect performance, handling, ride, and fuel economy probably more than any other single factor. In this case, get the struts sorted first, then look at tires as budget allows.
