As they are now used, it would likely depend on the particular ones you were looking at. The differences in the years were not major. Mostly a few new features in the 2018.
Keep in mind that the 2017 was the 8th year of that generation 4Runner, they have it really tweaked out.
As for the engine and transmission, those have been around since like 2003.
I recommend you get whatever one is in the best condition, and has the features you want, for the right price.

Basically the same car. Which ever one is in better condition.
