Should I buy a 17yr old Avalon for road trips?

Hi Scotty, what do you think of buying a 2006 Avalon that has 360,000 miles (automatic trans) and the interior seems great other than regular wear and tear. The owner stated that it has zero problems and is running great (of course I am going to check it first). Asking a price of $1800.
If the owner is saying is the truth, do you think it will be capable of road trips?

thanks!

That's a very big "if" (you can't trust anything a seller tells you) - and with that kind of mileage I would not use it for long trips. Everything wears out, even Toyotas. At that price it might all right for toodling around locally if a mechanic checks it out and says it's OK.

Even if the vehicle does pass a PPI, getting stranded far from home once, may well exceed the purchase price when you consider the cost of tow, repair, lodging etc.
