Have a 67 datsun 1600 the temp gauge reads on the upper range
Ive removed the therm to no avail
Ive removed the rad hose to check for blockage (water pump seems fine as coolant does flow)
Any Ideas?

Check thermostat. Also check radiator for cold spots indicating a clogged radiator. If it just happens at speed check lower radiator hose. If it's the type with a spring inside to keep it from collapsing under water pump suction the spring may have corroded away.
