[Solved] stuck in first gear

Hey Scotty,

A few miles out of town my brake master cylinder blew, no brakes. I nursed it most of the way home down-shifting and using the e-brake.  A mile from home I was making my way down a very steep hill in 1st gear, and now it won't come out of 1st gear at all.  I've had the car for 10 years and the transmission has always been flawless, until today.  Any tips I can try to get it out of 1st before tearing things apart?

Thanks buddy!

clutch works fine. i just can't get it out of gear

As I recall there really isn't an external shift linkage on those to get out of adjustment (the shifter goes directly into the gearbox) so it sounds like there's internal wear or damage.

It sounds like your pressure plate has bit the dust.  If there is no way to disengage the clutch, you'll have to pull the trans and do a complete clutch job.
