Hey i have a 14 Passat Tdi se with only 5k miles. I hit a deer at 60 miles an hour caved in the hood, both fenders and bumper. Supprisingly didnt set off the airbag. I only had liablility insurance so all repairs will be coming out of my pocket. The body shop estimates 7500 to fix it. At this point is it worth it to have fixed being that is so low miles and covered by the dieselgate warrenty till 2024 or am i better off junking it and moving on?
mis typed it has 50k not 5k miles
Hard question to answer. That is alot of money but the car has low mileage. How much would the budget be to get another car? Were you having any problems with the vehicle? Depending on your answers ot might be best to fix it.
Still trying to figure out my budget, not sure i want to be really deep into another car so if i go the replacement route I'll probably try to buy a cheap piece of crap to just get me through till used car prices start to normalise and go shoping then. As far as problems with the car it had no issues at the time it hit the deer. But in the last 10k miles it has had the water pump fail, the Nox sensor fail, the clockspring fail, and the radiator fan fail. The deiselgate warrenty only covered the nox sensor and the clock spring was covered by a extended warrenty bulliton. the other 2 I had to pay out of pocket.
I think it better to move on to a different vehicle. That is very low mileage but if you spend 7500 to get it repaired, you wouldn't get much out of the resale value.
kinda leaning that way myself, its just hard to walk away form somthing in over 14 k into at this point.
If you want to hold onto it, go to a junkyard & find the parts you need. They should bolt off & bolt on.
The car isn’t worth $7500.
