Lights won't turn off in 1976 Nova

76 Chevy Nova 6 inline

Hello Scotty hope all is well I had a question. So on my Nova the lights stay on when I turn off the car. I have to either remove the flasher switches or the glass fuses for the lights in order to turn off the lights or I disconnect a terminal from the battery to fully turn off the lights. Is this a wiring issue or a short somewhere? Any ideas I’ll greatly appreciate your help! Thank you!

Check operation of your headlight switch. It may have shorted out internally after 48 years.

Thank you very much sir I’ll take a look at that when I have the chance. I appreciate your help

Fortunately on that you have a pretty simple electrical system and don't have to worry about crap like computer modules operating everything. I don't think there is even a headlight relay, the full current goes through the switch. (Once you get the problem sorted out a relay harness would be a good addition for better headlight performance.)
