850 Volvo, Should I Stay Or Should I Go?

Hello Scotty!

I have a 1996 850 Turbo Volvo, and I need to know if I should put more money into it, or move on. I bought the car for $2,000 from my brother when it had about 140,000 miles on it, and I used it lightly over the next few years. Drove like a charm! However, it is now showing signs of age. I had a number of minor repairs done, two separate fuel injection issues, however a few years back some electrical issues emerged. My ABS went out, and for about 2 years I had no reading on my speedometer. The odometer also stopped moving, and it is still stuck at 184k. I tried to replace the broken ABS, which was filling the system with error codes, but a mechanic discovered that faulty wiring had shorted it before he plugged the replacement in. I have been driving it for about 3 years since that, and it still runs great, but more stuff is now happening. Just recently the fans on the right side of the vehicle stopped working, and if I put the blower to max the whole AC system cuts out. It still drives like a dream, but I am worried it is going to be crazy expensive to fix all the wiring, because of the labor, and I am worried that something really important might fail next. What is your advice?

Best Regards,

Jonathan Lemer
