I have a chance to get an '88 Buick Reatta with less than 100k miles. It’s in great shape, well maintained and it has the GM 3800 engine. The hitch is the guy wants to trade me for my completely rebuilt Honda Del Sol with 281k but that is in immaculate shape too. The Del Sol is great but it also doesn’t do well with water as it leaks. Thoughts on the Reatta?? Is it worth the trade?
Personally I’d keep the del sol. But I don’t know too much about the Reatta except that it was a low volume car.
They’re both getting long in the tooth. I’d expect the Del sol to be a little easier to maintain, but the s2000, Miata, and civic get all the JDM collector love. The Reata is way more posh and funky and seems to be getting more attention as a collectible.
I assume on this forum you’ll get more support for the Honda for reliability. But as an investment (and a livable daily) I’d take the Buick all day.
