Hi -my son has a 89 econoline w/ a 302 EFI 8 cylinder. Not throwing an engine light yet but is all of a sudden reving at a stop sign or light. Van is in Drive/gear. At “park” idles fine. Idles better in “Neutral”. Had run well previously. Does have dual gas tanks but only used tank one. This AM when first atarted van would sputter in drive go abt 30ft and die. Did that twice. Got it started each time. Finally just parked it. Where should we start?

Filters, spark plugs, and fuel pressure would be obvious things to check but that thing is so old it could be almost anything. You could also check for any OBD1 codes.
