Hey Scotty. Looking at a 94 formula firebird. 64k miles. It’s been tuned by a shop in reputable SC by the owner. Was a barn find by 2nd owner and bought by 3rd. sounds good, drove it 10-20min. No issues I felt, having a shop look at it this week. What is your opinion? Will a shop be able to say “this is solid or will need heavy work “

That car is 32 years old: it has OBDI functionality, which means you probably will need to take the car to a mechanic who knows OBDI. A mechanic in his prime 32 years ago is likely in his 50s now. The car has been driven minimally over the course of 32 years, and all the rubber components are likely dry rotting. Cars, especially offerings from the Big Three, don't respond very well to go from hardly driven to daily driving. If you want that car as a toy, sure, daily driver, no.
