Should I buy a Kia Carnival

Hi Scotty,

I have owned 2001 Sienna, 2010 Sienna (not a good year), 2012 Nissan Quest (loved), and currently have a 2016 Nissan Quest I bought used in 2020 with low miles (love it). It currently has ~143,000 miles, but no major issues. I baby the maintenance of things (especially the CVT) and no problems except for a new fuel pump recently. I have always stayed away from Kia/Hyundai cause they have had so many problems. I recently have been reading good things about the Kia Carnival imported from S. Korea. I really love the minivan with the side sliding doors in most parking lots. Life is easy with them. I wanted to get your opinion and thoughts on the newer, but used of course, 2024-2025 Carnival. Appreciate any feedback.

Thanks for your time,

Dee Dee M.

Kias are pretty much hated by Scotty and almost 90% of the members on this forum. They break down constantly and they’re not reliable. Scotty usually recommends people get a Toyota Sienna if they have to have a mini van.

Check out our pages on “Vehicles Reviewed by Scotty” to see Scotty’s opinion on other choices. You might also be interested in the Hyundai/Kia page: people have had so many problems with them that there is now a dedicated page on the site dedicated to their problems. Hyundai Motor Group
