Hi Scotty,

love your videos. I have a 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with over 300,000 miles on it. It was handed down to me from my grandfather. It’s been great to me and I’ve taken the best care of it that I can. However the last two weeks I’ve noticed a slight slipping in gear changes. I checked my transmission fluid on the dip stick and it’s low, in your opinion would it be safe to add more? Thanks.

You definitely want to keep the fluid at the proper level. However, it is not unlikely that the transmission is just plain worn out after 27 years and 300K miles.

Change the Transmission fluid.  Did on mine, the noise went away and so much smoother.  Total cost including fluid, Seal, etc. $69.  Messy but did myself.  $225+

if done in shop.
