I'm having trouble with my 97 Corolla 1.6 liter, recently paid someone to replace my timing belt. after it taking the person 2 weeks to do so handed me a part saying it wasn't important anyways. I'll send a pic. anyways no we my car is expelling excessive white smoke after it warms up, seems to be sputtering, chugging at times and occasional misfire, loss of power and the motor sounds different not at all like it did. could you possibly send me any tips on where to start. thanks for your time. https://photos.app.goo.gl/XUiXAFJ4JXzsN7nv9

I'm not sure what that part is but Toyota included it for a reason. It's keyed so might have sat on the camshaft, maybe an oil slinger or maybe those holes trigger a sensor. The guy who worked on it sounds like an imbecile. He probably got the valve timing all wrong.

That is a camshaft or crankshaft reluctor wheel. It's essential for making the engine run properly.

This person should not be allowed to come anywhere near cars.

start by finding a trustworthy mechanic to fix this mess

White smoke and a rough engine are classic signs of a blown head gasket.  Who worked on your car, Joe Biden?
