I have a 98 Chevy pickup k1500 with multiple misfire code. Engine has about 10k on it. Vehicle misfires on both banks. It started out doing it occasionally and now it’s constant. I have checked fuel pressure, compression, and spark. Has new distributor, verified timing. New spark plugs, new injectors. Swapped wires and plugs—misfires stay on same cylinders. Also have checked for vacuum leaks. I’m at a loss
Found that the new distributor cap was actually cross firing between cylinder 2 and 4.Thanks for the help
Check out the misfire page in our FAQ. Maybe it's a clogged cat.
I find it hard to believe that something that old only has 10,000 miles on it. Unless you're the original owner that would be a crock of s***. Do a compression test wet and dry on the engine and an engine leak down you probably have a worn out engine if fuel injectors and everything is really good
I replaced the engine with a remanufactured one 10k miles ago. Dry compression showed 150 psi on all cylinders
