I have a 2005 Cadillac Escalade with the 5.3 Vortec and the 4L60e transmission, i have an issue where the car cant shift out of first automatically, since it has the 123 gears on the shifter i can shift like that but obviously thats not how its meant to be used, what do you think could be a possible problem? the car was a hand me down so i don't mind if i can fix it or not, but i cant read any codes since my obd scanner cant even get power from the obd port.

Well if I were you I would try some Lucas transmission shifter fix fluid. I would remove the same amount that's in the bottle by sucking it out of the transmission. Then putting that Lucas in and pray it fixes. If not you. Looking at a small fortune rebuilding that thing

Always post your miles per the instructions please.

Have you checked the transmission dipstick? What about maintenance? Was the filter changed?

You should fix this. The port shares a fuse with the cigar lighter so check that first. Power comes to the port on the orange wire (pin 16)

There are two ground points inside the dashboard. One at each end right underneath the A-pillars. Those needs to work too.
