My car struggles to start in the cold and blows white smoke out the exhaust until it warms up. It also sputters out around 70mph and I can watch the tachometer jump + or - 100rpms. It only 72,500 miles on the odometer and has regular oil changes.
sounds like fuel pressure issues.
If the white smoke is translucent and clears up after a few minutes in cold weather, it's normal. If it were opaque and didn't clear up, I'd suspect a blown head gasket. Sounds like you have a fuel issue. When was last fuel filter replacement? I would get a new air filter and clean or replace the MAF sensor to start with.
White smoke in cold weather is normal. As far as the other issues, how old are the the fuel filter and air filters? The spark plugs? How old is the fuel pump? Any codes?
