I just bought a 99 Corolla from a small car dealer with 206k miles on it for 2k(hurt paying that in this crazy market). I put 1 can of gumout tune up already & will do it 2-3 more times. I'll also be changing oil & filters tomorrow. What else do you recommend me do @ this point in the cars life to finish tuning it up to last as long as possible & have it running the Scotty K way.

Just keep maintaining your car by changing every fluids. One small advice I would give to you is to never buy any used vehicles in the dealership next time.

Thank you for the advise, It was definitely out of my comfort zone buying from a small used car lot. I did get the car checked out by a experienced mechanic before the purchase. I look forward to all advise good & bad

You're welcome. That's good you checked with a professional mechanic before purchasing it.

I hope you got the car inspected before purchase. Those cars are oil burner if the oil change is neglected.

From reports I was able to get online about it, it seems that who ever owned it prior was very punctual with the vehicle service. We shall see in time if it holds up

I don't know why you downvote, but I just wanted you to be aware of this Toyota generation (especially at high mileage). Take out one of the spark plugs and see if it is covered with oil. Also, look for oily soot in the exhaust tailpipe. Good luck.

Even with good service, they are still oil burners just like yaser said. Please consider yaser's advice too.

I apologize I'm completely new on this forum & was clicking things to see what they were. I think I removed the down vote but let me know if it's still there so I can take it off. I'll most likely be replacing spark plugs & coil packs @ minimum. I'll be sure to inspect the spark plugs like you said

No worries. Good luck.
