Hi Scotty, I recently bought a ‘99 GMC Sierra standard cab, I’m having problems with the door locks, power windows, and power mirrors, I’m wondering if the problems could be related. When it is cold outside (35 or below) The drivers side lock does not unlock with the key fob, and the windows will not roll down, like they don’t have enough power. The problem with the power mirrors is they are very week all the time even when it is warm outside, they will only move in one direction. The passenger side door lock moves barely enough to lock and unlock (even when warm outside) but it always works. Maybe I have several different problems but it seems weird that my everything seems under powered at once, maybe a ground or something? Thanks

- first make sure your charging system is healthy ie have your battery+alternator tested
- your vehicle is over 20 years old. switch contacts get dirty and corroded so clean them up or replace them.
- Those older vehicles also used bimetallic thermal circuit breakers. Those just get worn out and stop working. In the past I've just bypassed them with a shunt, but you have to be aware that if the button is held too long it could start a fire. Better to just replace them.
- The mechanisms themselves get gummed up. The old grease gets hard and crusty and full of dirt, so clean up all the actuators too.
- Windows can work better if you lube the slides on the side.
- the wires in the door harness (next to hinge) bend back and forth many times and eventually break the wires inside.
