Can I use headgasket seal?

I'm not sure if I have coolant getting into my oil.

Scotty says if I have coolant getting into the oil then don't use the gasket sealant fluid.

I'm not sure how to tell.

I have what looks like sludge in the rocker cover. But there doesn't seem to be any chocolate type foam/sludge on the dipstick.

I have had a gas test on the coolant and the liquid changed colour very slightly after a long time.

I have been losing coolant maybe a 1L over 1-3months period. No signs of obvious leaks. Mechanic took a look and things it's head gasket.

it's an old car not worth doing the gasket on it. thought id use gasket seal if i could
