I am looking at buying a one owner 2015 Camry XLE V6, but it has 192 000km. I want a car that will last me 5-10 years but is this too many kilometers on this type of vehicle? Buyer said car is well maintained and is clean inside and out, but has had one accident around $3000 worth of repairs.
I would pass on this one.
192000km is 119000 miles- it's not that high and nothing really to worry about. You didn't mention what type of accident and if you needed 3k in repairs, then I can guarantee it was something serious.
the accident was in 2015 in the second week of the original owners purchase, accident was dent and paint repair according to owner
How much are they asking for it? Just the accident can be a red flag based on what had happened and the repairs so even if you want to go forward with it at the very least have a mechanic you trust check it out because to me a $3000 repair accident doesn't seem like something very simple.
Private sellers is asking $15 000 CAD (I live in Ontario, Canada). Yeah I was planning on getting a mechanic to check it out first, do you think a Toyota dealer is okay for a check? Its the only place open on a Saturday when I am looking at the vehicle.
That's almost $12k USD which I think given an accident is too much for the car because my personal feeling is it was more than just a simple dent and paint job (the repair cost was about $2500 USD). Also, no I will never trust a dealership for taking a look at the car; I would only take it to an independent mechanic you know and trust. Another thing I've done myself previously when looking at used cars was telling the seller that I want to have my own mechanic check the car; and those who know the car has some serious issues or had a serious accident usually say no to having the car checked by your mechanic.
I'd pass. Too much for a car that's been damaged. Who knows if it even has a clean title at this point?
I would keep looking
