Hello I have a 2003 Nissan 350z. My a/c blows just hot air. At first I thought It just needed more free on. The compressor was not turning on. Ones I filled it up the compressor turned on, but still no cold air.The next day I turn the a/c and the compressor didn't turn on. I measured the free on and it didn't have none. I put some more and the compressor turned on but still no cold air. What can it be? a bad compressor?? But y does it turn on when I put free on but no cold air? Why the next day it does have no more free on? Please help thank you

That means that there is a huge leak somewhere. The system needs to be tested. This is not something you can do yourself unfortunately.

My 2001, all wheel drive, 4 door, automatic, Ford Explorer does the same. Plus it keeps building pressure, which causes the cool air from blowing. And only blows hot air. My mechanic put a whole new system in...compressor, hoses, everything. He connected a pressure gauge and it's normal, by then it will blow a hole in the a/c manifold hose. My mechanic can't figure it out.

I wouldn't say everything, just the most common parts. If he hasn't messed with the condenser or even the filters how would he know if there is a blockage in the system? What do you mean by building pressure? Pressure gauge as in the 10k ones? A $80 dollar one can only get you so far if you cannot test for vacuum. It shouldn't read as "normal" if it's blowing holes in hoses, that means a bunch of back pressure is coming from somewhere. What are the readings or high/low side?
