Hey Scotty! I have a Honda and there has been a rattle at high rpm(around 5500rpm). The sound used to come at 6000 rpm. The sound is coming from the right side of the engine bay, while driving, where all the belts and pulleys are located. Is it a pulley going bad or something else? Would love to hear your views on this!
For those who might be wondering, the engine is an L15A7.
I would also like to add that the exhaust comes out from the right as well. And roads here in India are pretty bad and the car is comparatively low. So I do end up bottoming out the car quite a few times.
@weallbroke
check the exhaust for any leaks, like the flex pipe or manifold
For what it's worth, I have seen and fixed several Hondas that had loose heat shields on their exhaust systems. They make a buzzing at high speeds. Fortunately, it's pretty easy to check.
@glen_stet
Lets just hope that's what this is!
You will have to remove the belt and then check for sounds and condition of pulley.
Lol. Our little Honda's have never seen 5,000 much less 6,000 rpms.
@carlos
Give it a go! Hondas can be quite fun while pushing them! Certainly had fun in mine! Haha!
