Hello, good people, I have another car question: When I bought my '09 Honda Civic LX, I did not have the luxury of having a trusted mechanic with me. So, my brakes went out the other day and the bill reads as such: ....find issue and check and repair top cylinder head rocker/arm damaged withe bad threads and broken bolts.. made new threads & set original steal bolts. ABS sensor harness wiring system RPR ... Caliper and brake master cylinder RPR...check and set brake fluid. Then a road test for accuracy.
So I'm guessing RPR is short for repair? When I got it to the shop, all the brake fluid was gone.... and he showed me where it was leaking out of the seals.
One of my questions is why did my ABS light not come on?? This was very sudden, with my brake pedal shaking all of a sudden, and not stopping. Driving in real bad weather, very COLD! My total was 550.00
Did I get a fair price? Also on the invoice it said they changed the oil, oil filter and topped off all fluids, brake job under warranty for one year. Is this a good deal? Thanks
wow you got all that for 550. Keep this mechanic
mountainmanjoe Thanks.. I shopped around, asked questions.
That was a GREAT deal.
Usually RPR = shop speak for "Repair/Replace".
You definitely got a good deal though. I would be curious if the ABS light in the dash was removed and that is why it didn't come on. Dishonest sellers will do that.
Mod_Man ya but all my trouble lights come on when I start the vehicle...doesnt that mean they work?
I also did a VIN check... I am the 3rd owner of this vehicle. Hope to be the last. Its been too cold to check anything under the hood.
Yes if they all come on at startup then they all work. Good job watching out for that. 🙂
Thanks, Mod_Man ... its all a big THANKS to this site, and guys like Scotty and all the helpful videos. Scotty is unreal in all his un-ending knowledge about cars. The Kicker is he can explain it perfectly... I tend to retain what genuine people say... and I can sense a Clown quickly. Since '98 I worked alongside some smart Tech type people, but never met anyone who can explain things like Scotty can. I learned about those lights I mentioned from his videos.. I watch all I can! REV up your Engines!! 🚗🏁🚗
