I have a 2010 Honda accord lx 2.4 engine 4 cylinder 207k miles and compressor for ac just went. Clutch not engaging.
Should I replace it being miles on car. He ave no other known issues at least not aware.
What are my options?
Should I replace it being miles on car.
Why would you do that before doing some troubleshooting to find the actual problem? Was the compressor making any bad noises? Is there even enough refrigerant in the AC system to permit the compressor to run?
I am working on a similar issue, an older 2005 Vibe with potentially bad AC bearing, which is right behind the clutch. I don't want to spend more money than necessary on it.
For mine, it is possible to change the bearing with the clutch and pulley, without disconnecting the coolant hoses, thus saving a lot of money.
Look your particular vehicle up, and if it is possible, surely other people have written about it online. It is not the best repair, as many other old components are still there, but for an older car, it could give it several more years of operating for cheap.
Here is one video of the older accord.
