Hi Scotty, I own a 2008 Acura TL type S it has 112,000 miles. I take it to the dealer for basic oil changes only. I need a timing belt for my car. I don’t trust the dealers as you could probably understand. October I took my car there for a oil change. A month before this oil change I was on the highway with a dump truck that had rocks in it they came out and one got under my car and cause damage to my exhaust pipe and to the scrape indicator plastic thing on the front bumper underneath. I took it to a mechanic to see if there was anything else wrong with it. He told me there was no leaks no water damage. A few days before I took it into the dealer for an oil change I took it to a mechanic to see if there was anything wrong with it or any leaks they were not. The dealer had my car for 3 1/2 hours for an oil change it was on a Saturday and busy. The dealer said come with me I wanna show you something he begins to show me underneath my car and oil leak that was coming from the oil pump seal. He tells me I need a timing belt water pump tensioner’s and a leak needs to be fixed. They gave me and well over priced estimate and I don’t trust them. I am in the Philadelphia South Jersey area I would like to find someone who is reputable and trustworthy to do my work I love the car and it is in very very good condition. I don’t believe I can prove that they caused a leak but I do believe they did. Can you please help and give me some advice on how to proceed. I watch all your videos you have a great Service that you offer the public.
Thank you I look forward to hearing from you. Frank
I have not change the oil in the transmission fluid since it was new should I do that or leave it be I don’t have any issues with the transmission other than it’s slow speed sometimes it’ll shimmy and I just take my foot off the gas but it shifts pretty well
Regarding the transmissions fluid change, you should inspect it first. If it is dark and smells like burnt oil, I would not touch it, otherwise just drain and refill it. For mechanic in the area, check out this shop:
