Hello, my 2010 Acura rdx with 209xxxkm was at the Honda dealer last week for a valve adjustment and a charging system check as it dies after sitting a few days and the dealer confirmed there was a parasitic draw of 145mA. They wanted another $400 to further diagnose the draw but I decline and bought myself a multimeter for $40.
My own measurement of the draw shows a range of 550-700mA of parasitic drain. I pulled every fuse and relay in the engine and passenger fuse boxes and the very last one was my drain… Fuse 32, a 20AMP fuse in the secondary engine fuse box for the power seat RECLINE function for the front passenger seat. The drain dropped and is holding very steady at 0.02-0.03AMP.
now my question is.. I can live with letting my passengers not being able to adjust their seat. But if I wanted to further and properly fix this, what would the next steps be?
what would the next steps be?
find an electrical schematic. Probe further to isolate the drain to a specific component. Repair/replace the component as necessary.
what would the next steps be?
Trace out that circuit to find the source of the drain.
I’ve seen videos where people pull out wiring diagrams, but I’m not sure where to find those?
I’m not sure where to find those?
- repair manuals (eg Haynes) have them
- Online car repair data services (eg Alldata)
- Your local public library (free!)
