Scotty love your content! I have a 2015 Kia Optima with 47500 miles standard 2.4 engine. I’ve owned since new. The factory agm battery is nearing the end. Starting to drag on cold mornings. Do I need to replace with another agm battery or can I use a regular acid flooded battery.
You can use a regular battery. The expense of AGM just isn't worth it for most people.
In fact 6 years of life from an AGM battery is awful.
I'm not a mechanic, only an enthusiast.
I always thought AGM batteries from the manufacturer needed to be replaced with AGM, not lead acid, because of power requirements of the vehicle. At least that is the way with BMW, and the BMW mechanics I work with. And I replaced an AGM with an AGM on my BMW.
Maybe it is different for other makes and models.
If it were the other way around, starting off with lead acid, you could replace it with either.
I would personally stick with the AGM, if that's what it came with from the factory.
