Air Filter Mystery

Scotty I own a 2019 Honda CR V LX ( bought the LX in order to get the 2.4 liter engine sans turbo). I have 15,500 miles on the car and do my own oil changes, brakes, and light maintenance. I have a local guy like you for anything serious, or tires etc.as I'm 75 now and slowing down a bit. My concern is the engine air filter when I inspected it for the first time I noticed a black oil or tar like substance on the lower side of the filter, I thought perhaps it was something that got sucked up from road work and changed the filter. This last oil change I again inspected the filter and found the same crud in the bottom side . This air intake has a different construction from our 09, and 15 CR V's in that it has a vertical enclosure / duct in front of the air box, so it's hard to tell if anything is going on there. Any thoughts, should I be concerned ?

Thanks

It could be some oil making it's way from the crankcase breather hose connected to the intake tract. See if there is any oil residue on the inside of the intake piping.

must be coming from the PCV system
