- Hi Scotty, I am watching a lot of your videos and I thank you for them. However I do have question for you. I just recently bought myself 2004 Camry 3.0 V6 1MZ-FE The car had one owner born 10.10.1941. 88 t Miles and perfect service history besides TF and filter wich I have done myself two weeks ago. In the engine however I hear squealing noises. It’s coming from the front cylinder head on the passenger side where the timing belt is. The timing belt has been replaced including the pulley, WP and tensioner and pulley. Both accessories belts are new as well and when I removed them and started the car to run just on the battery the noise was still there. Could that be the cam shaft bearing ( with this mileage? ) or just the O - ring cam shaft seal ? How to find out for sure without removing the timing and the head cover ? The timing was done in 2018 and the car was driven 11 thousand miles since. Is there any additiv to oil to lubricate especially the O-rings ?
Another simple question is, what brand of shock absorbers should I get for rear set ? The original owner admitted that the RR shock absorber is done - and it really is. I’d like to keep original ride quality. Other than that I am very happy with the car and the care which it has received from that older gentleman - thank him the car looks and handles like new, in and out. Thank you Scotty for everything and keep up the good work.
Ps : I am in Switzerland so my access to us retailers is somewhat limited - using the Rockauto.com whenever I need something
please try to record a video and post a Youtube link
Generally timing belt did not squeal it's the fan belts the squeal for some reason either belt is loose the pulley the Titans them isn't tight enough or a bearing is worn and alternator or anything the belt drives
Thank you 😊
However, I took the serpentine belt off and started the engine just running on battery, that squeaking is still there. When I push the timing belt cover to press it towards the engine, the noise is lower, almost gone. I checked all the screws and all is fine. I will try to replace that belt for the original one from Toyota. I believe, they have installed the Gates kit. I heard that this belts are not good. Will see.
KYB or Bilstein shock absorbers.
Thank you, KYB installed 😊
