In my quarter century of owning and driving cars, I have never flushed the fuel system.

That's a bunch of hooey. My car is 27 years old and I've never flushed the fuel system in the dozen years I've owned it. I have service records from the previous owner and I don't think he did either. In fact in over 50 years of car ownership the only time I've flushed a fuel system is if the car sat for years and the remains of the old gas had to be cleaned out.

Engine oil and filter should be changed every 5000 miles or one year, whichever comes first.

That joint is ripping you off. You need to find another shop, a good independent mechanic, not a chain shop or dealer.

No. If it's running fine then leave it.

No, as long as you use the car regularly, it's just a scam. All gasoline made in the US have a minimum amount of of detergents in them as required by federal regulations. Every once in a while you might switch to a Top Tier brand to keep things clean. PEA is the specific cleaner that keepscarbon from building up. A dedicated flush isn't necessary, again, as long as you're using it regularly.

It's every 5,000 miles or once a year. The shop is trying to sell you stuff.
