Hey Scotty. How do I know when to change my antifreeze. Is a coolant temp tester good enough or is there a better way.

The anti-corrosion additives wear out over time even if it's still protecting against freezing. Today's antifreeze formulations usually last 5 to 10 years. On a modern car it's best to adhere to the type of coolant and change interval specified by the manufacturer.

Go by what it says in your owners manual.

Time is the main parameter. Although you should check the fluid appearance as well.
