Hello,
My wife told me that her 2015 Ford Explorer was taking a decent amount of pressure to break, so I assumed it was the pads, after a quick inspection it seems that was the case.
I don't feel like changing them out myself when its 0 degrees outside, so I took it to my local shop and asked for a quote. Got the quote back and they wanted 650$ to change the four pads, does this sound like a normal price for this kind of job? I had my rotors and pads changed two years ago for only a hundred dollars more in my car, so im skeptical.
Thank you for your help!
it sounds to me like they don't want your business
that's around $100 in parts. So $550 labour for a half hour job .... that's pretty good dough.
To me for only a pad replacement that’s a little high. But from what I’ve seen and searched from my local area the average pad and rotor replacement is usually between 420-600 dollars.
That's way too high. The hardest part of the job is taking the wheels off. I would go elsewhere.
It depends on where you are located. In LA, California, I had higher quotes before. I changed 4 sets on my mercedes for $350 and dealership was asking $1200.
Mercedes. No surprise there.
Way to expensive.
From posts I notice thing really cost money in U.S. A year ago my mechanic replaced front brakes and rotors on 2002 Suzuki Swift for about 150€. Mechanics there charge 20 to 30€ per hour of labour.
Lucky you. Meanwhile here Americans are paying thousands of dollars on replacing the engines in their Chevys and transmissions in their Nissans. Don't think you guys have the same dillemas with your Fiat Palios. Assume you just junk 'em not even worth labor costs.
@kerem
Yes, we don't have those dilemas because Palios weren't sold there 😂. It's enough we have other junk like Panda. New one are easily junked because repairs that occur over time
You’d have to know the price of parts (including markup) + book time x labor rate and see what that comes to.
Bad deal. Here’s how to do it buy the parts yourself and ask how much the parts are and the price of labor once you have the total for each tell them you have the part then it should only be the price of labor which for brake pads it should only take 1 1/2 hrs max it’ll be cheaper doing it that way
