AT-205 Semi Success Story

My 1999 Honda Accord was leaking oil. It wasn’t gushing, but it also wasn’t just a dribble. It lost about a quart per oil change.

So with the forums suggestion, I tried AT-205 reseal. I plopped 1/2 in waited the 5 hour engine run time recommendation. Plopped the other 1/2 in, waited again. I thought it didn’t work. Still the same amount of oil left on the ground.

However, about a week later, I checked the ground, and it’s only just a dribble compared to before.

Checked the dipstick for oil, and still practically full.

My question is, can I use more on the next oil change, or maybe I shouldn’t test my luck and have the seals swell too much?

Yeah you have to wait and let it do it's thing. The solvent has to slowly absorb into the gasket materials. You may only have needed half the bottle.

I think that's all you'll get out of a quick fix.

Good to know.

The bottle said engine running for 5 hours. But maybe that is just an underestimate.

To notice a change, it seemed more like 15-20 hour runtime for me.

Nope, only once from what I’ve read. If there is anyone who has a different opinion I would love to hear it.

I have a 2008 Impala 198,000 rear main seal, was leaking not a lot, a year later a few drips but nothing severe. I’ll live with it unless the oil light comes on, then I’ll dump it.

$2500 to drop the tyranny and replace the seal, not worth it.....

Awesome. Good to know.

Btw, I’m glad it worked for your rear main seal!

You can put the entire bottle in then drive it on the freeway for about an hour.

get it nice and hot, etc.....

The longer you drive it the better the seal from what I’ve read.

Here is hoping it can seal the whole thing!!! Only time will tell.
