Hello! Would an Audi A6 Avant (2001-2004) with about 130 000 miles be a decent beater car for under $2000? (2.4l V6, naturally aspirated, FWD, Automatic) Is it reliable enough to drive for a few years? Audis are common here in northern Europe and I've seen those things with over 200 000 miles on them. Parts are also widely available. What do you think?

Hi
Personally, I wouldn't invest in an Audi. Although I'm not sure how reliable the older models can be, but I'm sure parts can be very expensive.
I wish you the best in your search.

The 2.4 l engines have some Reliability issues, as far as I know.
You should look for another engine.
The dad of one of my friends has the 2.0 or 1.8 version and has 365 000 kilometers on the clock (215 000miles)
and the car is in a pretty good shape.
As an exception, in Europe, where parts are MUCH cheaper & German cars much better made, I’d say go for it. You’re getting it for dirt cheap, and if you don’t intend to put much money into it if anything major breaks, it might be an okay car.
Just realise that if something major breaks on that car, you will have to scrap it as the repairs may well exceed the value of the car itself. But for a knock around car for a few years, in Europe, sure.
