Hello, I have a 2017 Chevrolet Impala with a 3.6 V6 Engine and a 6-speed Automatic Transmission. It has 79,500 KM (49,400 miles). I have been told to not replace the transmission fluid. I know this is not true, but is it too late at 49,000 miles? Thank you.
Nope, whoever told you that doesn't know what they're talking about. If you want to change it, do it now and stick to a 30-50k mile change interval to keep your GM transmission going as long as possible. Domestic automatics like to shed clutch material as they age and dirty fluid enhances the shedding with time. If you waited until 100k+ to change the fluid, then you would be getting into an area where you might not want to change it.
I would change it now (drain and fill only, with filter change). Then from this point onward change it no more than every 40,000 miles for peace of mind.
The brand of the fluid you use doesn't matter as long as it meets the manufacturer's specifications.
I would change it with correct fluid without flush.
